Merrill Garbus returned with her latest tUnE-yArDs album Nikki Nack earlier this year (via 4AD). The record saw her unlearn her usual singing and drumming techniques and forge a new musical path, but she's not done experimenting yet.
Garbus has now offered up a remixed version of album cut "Water Fountain," taking her sonic evolution one step further with Lisbon producer DJ Marfox's version of the tune. It also features vocals from Rio de Janeiro MC trio Pearls Negras.
The track arrives in support of tUnE-yArDs' recently established charity the Water Fountain, which supports organizations dedicated to water issues around the world through music and ticket sales, as well as royalties from licensing deals.
