Trent Reznor Reportedly Working with David Fincher on 'Fight Club' Rock Opera

Apple Music employee Trent Reznor has been involved in the soundtracks of David Fincher's last three movies, and now the Nine Inch Nails leader is reportedly working with the director once again, this time on a stage adaptation of Fincher's 1999 film Fight Club.

This project has been rumoured since last year, when author Chuck Palahniuk (who wrote the 1996 Fight Club novel that spawned the movie) tweeted that Fincher and Julie Taymor (who directed the Beatles musical film Across the Universe, plus the U2-assisted Broadway production Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) were working on a "rock opera" adaptation of Fight Club.

Now, it's been suggested that Reznor is involved. The Playlist points out that Jeff Goldsmith — of the podcast The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith — tweeted this news (see below). The information apparently traces back to Palahniuk. It isn't clear exactly what Reznor's involvement entails, but presumably he's working on music for the production. It remains to be seen whether he delivers moody soundscapes as he did on Fincher's films, or if he will be writing full-blown rock opera numbers.
