Trent Reznor: Grizzly Bear "Makes Me Feel Irrelevant"

It's no secret that a whole lot of people love Grizzly Bear. Hell, Veckatimest has a whopping 86 on Metacritic right now, and tracking down haters is quite the chore. But little did we know that among Grizzly Bear's legions of American Apparel-clad fans is one Trent Reznor, who recently said that the band are "a nice, healthy kick in the ass" and made him "feel irrelevant."

"I saw Sufjan Stevens last year, and I was like, how is his singing that good? The band Grizzly Bear, I think they're excellent," the Nine Inch Nails front-man recently told Newsweek [via The Daily Swarm]. "There's a beauty and a musicality there that I wish would have been in vogue in the late '80s, when I was forming bands. The aesthetic I was tuned into was a more dumbed-down kind of thing. Sometimes listening to stuff like they're doing makes me feel irrelevant. That's a nice, healthy kick in the ass. And it's interesting to see there's room for that in what's considered hip these days."

Unfortunately, he does not elaborate any further on his dislike for ol' Sufjan, but as Chris Cornell knows all too well, it's never a good idea to get Reznor's bad side.
