Trans Am to Reissue 'Futureworld,' Take Album on North American Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 11, 2011

Simultaneously looking forward while recalling their past, post-rockers Trans Am are readying a reissue of their landmark 1999 album Futureworld.

The two decades-old act are prepping a remastered version of the vocoder-and-synth-laden disc on repressed vinyl. While the LP sticks to the original tracklisting, the reissue will come with a download card, which will include two extra cuts that were left off the original release.

One bonus track is the outtake "Nazi/Hippie Empire," recorded during the original sessions and now remixed by LCD Soundsystem head honcho James Murphy. The other bonus track "Now You Die, Thriddle Fool!" was originally released by Strength Magazine on a  flexi-disc seven-inch.

You can download Futureworld's epic title track here, or stream it below.

Trans Am will support the reissue this fall via a handful of tour stops where they'll play Futureworld in its entirety. Canadian fans should note that the quick East Coast jaunt will stop in Toronto and Montreal. Check out the schedule below.

Futureworld will be reissued as part of Thrill Jockey's 20th anniversary series on September 13. The label hints at upcoming reissues from the Sea and Cake and Tortoise in the near future.
