Drake Releasing New Mixtape in January?

BY Josiah HughesPublished Nov 26, 2014

Toronto rap phenom Drake always seems to be sitting on a pile of new material, having recently just dropped three freebies. The rapper's been busily working toward his new Views from the 6 LP, which is tentatively expected in the spring, but it looks as if there may be more material before then.

While it's all hearsay at this point, a rumour has been circulated that Drizzy is planning the release of a new mixtape in January.

In a new interview with NBA TV, Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan described his friendship with Drake. Then, he may have jeopardized that relationship by leaking some secret information. "I talked to him the other night, actually he said he wanted to give me his mixtape that comes out in January," he said regarding his most recent conversation with Drake.

The interview in question is available here, with the specific quote arriving at the 5:20 mark.

While it's extremely plausible that Drake would kick off 2015 with a batch of new material, it's just as likely that he was trying to impress DeRozan. After all, Drake has a history of getting flustered around NBA players.
