After inking a deal with Anti- back in the summer, Pennsylvania punk unit Title Fight have gone ahead and announced their first proper bout for the label. The record is called Hyperview, and it arrives February 3.
As previously reported, the group's third full-length affair was recorded by producer William Yip (Braid) at his Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA. A press release explains the resulting recordings take the band in a new direction, especially in regards to the vocals. The 10-song set is said to feature "remarkably muted and lovely" vocals, as opposed to the harsher "caterwauling" on previous efforts, with the lyrics themselves being "almost defiantly opaque."
"We were looking at bands like maybe Dinosaur Jr. and the Beach Boys," bassist/vocalist Ned Russin noted of the sonic direction Title Fight have gone in for Hyperview, adding, "We were looking at the moment where they found something that had never been done before and was now being done well. We were just chasing that energy."
Down below, you'll find the video for first single "Chlorine," which combines jarring alt-rock distortion and muddy vocals with images of a man's confusing boat voyage. You can also check out info on a handful of U.S. tour dates with Circa Survive and Pianos Become the Teeth at the bottom of the page.
