Tim Hecker Scores 'Massacred for Gold' Documentary

Today (October 15) marks the release date of Virgins, the new LP from masterful Montreal-based ambient performer Tim Hecker. Rather than sit back and soak in his own soothing sounds, however, the artist has already announced his next project.

As Pitchfork reports, Hecker has lent his ability for textural soundscapes to the score of a new documentary called Massacred for Gold.

The film, which was directed by Jennifer Anderson and Vernon Lott, is an adaptation of a book by the same name, which follows a group of miners who were murdered in Oregon in 1887 as part of an anti-Chinese massacre.

Massacred for Gold will make its debut at the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival next month. Those of us stuck in Canada, however, can check out the trailer for the film below.

Virgins is out today via Paper Bag/Kranky.
