Thundercat Announces North American Tour, Premieres Tribute Track to Deceased Nintendo Head

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 26, 2013

Following the acclaim Thundercat (a.k.a. Stephen Bruner) got over his Apocalypse LP this summer, the virtuosic future-funk bassist has announced his first-ever headlining tour of North America.

A press release confirms that Thundercat will be hitting the road for his top-billing tour in November, and while the bulk of the 12-show stretch has him travelling around the U.S., there are a few Canadian gigs to report. He'll first hit up Vancouver's Fortune Sound Club on November 16, but he'll also make his way to Toronto and Montreal before capping the trek in Los Angeles. You'll find all the details down below.

In other news, the self-professed "diehard fan of comic books, cartoons and videogames" has prepped a new tributary track to recently deceased former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi called "Bowzer's Theme." Thundercat co-wrote the track with pianist/composer Ruslan Sirota, and you can stream the blend of synths both teary and terrifying, as well as assorted Super Mario Bros.-style coinbox blips beneath those concert dates.
