Psych-rock is a resilient genre, clinging on to contemporary bands like Tame Impala, Pond and the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Unlike the aforementioned, however, Temples couldn't seem to translate their psychedelic tracks to the stage in a way that did them justice. They had all the right moves, and great songs to boot, but their performance was no different than hearing their album played on massive speakers.
A couple of times they broke through; "A Question Isn't Answered" shook the stage with monster riffs, while "Colours To Life" was quiet but passionate. Yet, the complete package was lacking that certain spark that carries a show across the realm of mediocrity. Perhaps a large arena would give Temples' big hair and old ideals room to shine, but their Osheaga set didn't quite make it into the light.
