Tasseomancy Prep Cassette EP Ahead of Upcoming Full-Length, Share New Song

As of late, Tasseomancy sisters Sari and Romy Lightman have been kept busy by their duties as touring members of Austra. Before the end of the the year, however, they will be returning their focus back on their own band by releasing a cassette EP as they head the UK for a couple of shows and plot a new album.

The band announced the EP by sharing a rhythmic, ghosty new electro-folk tune called "Braid. Wind Is Coming." The tape also includes "Black Milk," a tune that has been floating around in acoustic form for a couple of years now; the cassette version is presumably different from the one they recorded next to a swimming pool in Reykjavik, Iceland.

"Braid. Wind Is Coming" was recorded at Toronto's 6 Nassau Recording Studio with Jeff McMurrich (Owen Pallett, the Luyas). Sandro Perri handled mixing and mastering. Presumably the rest of the new tunes were made with the same production team, but this is currently unconfirmed. The tape includes five songs in total. See the tracklist below, and scroll past that to hear "Braid. Wind Is Coming," plus the aforementioned performance of "Black Milk."

Tasseomancy will be selling copies of the tape when they head to England next month for a couple of live dates. Hopefully they still have some copies left when they return home, or at least make the rest of the songs available digitally.

A note on SoundCloud confirms that the tape will be followed by a new full-length, due out in the winter of 2014.
