Swollen Members Reissue Early Albums

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 1, 2015

Swollen Members always keep busy, whether that means convening for frequent new albums or releasing a steady stream of side-projects. Now, however, the prolific BC rappers are taking a moment to revisit their past by reissuing a couple of early albums.

The collective's first two albums, 1999's Balance and 2001's Bad Dreams, are each getting new and remastered CD pressings on January 29 through Battle Axe. These include brand new artwork from graffiti artist RISK.

There aren't any bonus tracks, but the CDs come with new liner notes that were designed specially for this release. There are also limited-edition, one-of-a-kind hand-painted versions from RISK, which are a little more pricy.

Additionally, Swollen Members are releasing these albums alongside a few unique merch items like a beer koozie, a flask and a dugout for your smoking needs. They're available separately or can be packaged together in a bundle. The merch items come out on the same day as the albums on January 29.

"I'm proud to be able to finally offer fans digitally remastered versions of the first two Swollen Members albums with all new artwork by legendary artist RISK," said the group's Madchild in a statement. "Fans constantly tell me how hard it is to find physical copies of both Bad Dreams and Balance because they've been out of print for such a long time. We took the time to put together a premium package for these two classic albums and offer something extra to longtime fans, and as well as offer a jumping on point for new fans that have never had a chance to be exposed to these records before."

That's the full bundle of items above. (Balance has the dark-shaded cover in the bottom right, while Bad Dreams is the one with colourful artwork in the top left.) See all of the options over at Swollen Members' online store.
