While last year had Sunn O))) issuing not one but two collaborative LPs, the distorted doom greats will spend chunks of 2015 working on their first proper album since 2009's Monoliths & Dimensions.

A recent newsletter from the duo [via Metal Injection] explained that in addition to wishing their fans a "healthy, prosperous and epic 2015," Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson will be keeping themselves plenty busy with their longtime project. In particular, they plan to undertake a few tours in between recording sessions for the as-yet-undetailed new LP.

They explained: "O))) are working on three new tours in both US and EU and also will be continuing work on a brand new SUNN O))) album across the span of 015. We are looking forward to unleash to the masses."

It's unclear exactly when the band plan to issue their next LP or if it will feature any guests. Monoliths & Dimensions featured additional musicianship from experimental guitarist Oren Ambarchi, Earth's Dylan Carson and Mayhem's Attila Csihar, among others. Last year's Terrestrials was a full-length collaboration with Ulver, while Soused found the outfit exploring haunted arrangements with Scott Walker.
