Sum 41 Gear Up for Screaming Bloody Murder

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 13, 2011

It's been a rough couple of years for Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley, who became tabloid fodder after divorcing Avril Lavigne in 2009 and getting attacked in Japan in 2010. Now, his focus is back on music, and Sum 41 are getting set to drop a new album.

On March 29, the Ontario pop punks will release Screaming Bloody Murder via Island. It was produced by Whibley, who also produced 2007's Underclass Hero, as well as two tracks on Lavigne's The Best Damn Thing.

Screaming Bloody Murder was previously intended to come out last August, and the group promoted that original release date with the single "Scumfuck." It's unclear whether that song is still slated to appear on the album.

If you can't wait until March to hear what the band have in store, the title track is embedded below. With its sombre piano intro and thundering punk-metal rock-outs, this is a very different side of the pop goofs that released hits like "Fat Lip" and "In Too Deep" during the last decade.

In the coming months, Sum 41 will play shows in Europe, the U.S., Australia and Japan, but don't have any Canadian gigs currently booked. See their tour schedule here.
