The widow of the man killed after being struck by a vehicle on the set of Straight Outta Compton has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Suge Knight, Universal Pictures, and film producers Dr. Dre and Ice Cube.

Lilian Carter filed the suit in Los Angeles yesterday (June 3), claiming that Universal acted negligently by continuing to film at a Compton, CA locale last January after Dr. Dre reportedly told the production that Suge Knight, who was on-set and driving the car at the time, was "dangerous."

As previously reported, Knight had reportedly been in an altercation on the film set with Cle "Bone" Sloan, an advisor hired by Universal. When Knight attempted to leave, he allegedly threw his car into reverse and struck down Terry Carter, who was behind the vehicle at the time.

According to the legal documents [via Variety], "This lawsuit concerns the tragic tale of how reckless corporate greed, disguised as the quest for authenticity, [led] to a foreseeable altercation that resulted in the death of a successful businessman."

Additionally, the lawsuit claims Knight "carelessly, recklessly, violently, and negligently drove Vehicle 1 towards Bone … causing Vehicle 1 to strike Terry Carter and killing him."

Carter is seeking unspecified general and punitive damages, funeral costs, and court costs.

Knight turned himself in following the accident and was then hit with charges that included one count of murder, one count of attempted murder and two counts of hit and run. He pled not guilty to the charges. Due to prior his prior convictions, he could face life in prison.

Knight's murder trial is scheduled to start July 7.
