Steve Taylor

"To Be Graced"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 23, 2015

Singer-songwriter Steve Taylor has spent years playing guitar as a sideman to notable acts like Rhye, but he's ready to step into the spotlight with his The Land of Milk and Honey LP — and Exclaim! is pleased to premiere his new single "To Be Graced."

A dreamy acoustic number, the song showcases Taylor's wide range of musical influences from Brazilian jazz to psych-folk to classic rock.

The upcoming record was recorded between Oakland, Portland and his new home base of Los Angeles, and is slated to arrive later this year via Georgia Anne Muldrow's SomeOthaShip imprint.

In a statement about the new material, Taylor said: "The Land of Milk and Honey is about searching for paradise thru the wreckage of the of the world. I've been searching for this paradise, and I been pretty disappointed in what I found... I feel like we have to create it, because the prefabricated models are pretty off. In nature I find paradise, but the solitude can be lonely. So I was going for a lonely beauty for the album."

You can get an early taste of what that sounds like by giving "To Be Graced" a listen below.
