Bry Webb

The Constantines are back from their indefinite hiatus, with shows planned for the summer, but to tide you over you can catch frontman Bry Webb's solo act this week in Ottawa. Webb's most recent album, Free Will, demonstrates his versatility; these melancholic folk tunes are captivating and an interesting change of pace from his other work.

02/28/2015 Ottawa, ON – National Arts Centre (Fourth Stage)

Single Mothers

London Ontario-based noise-punks Single Mothers are set for a week-long Canadian run before hitting the United States, so if you need a reason to jump off of a stage or into a mosh pit, this is it. Expect coarse, punchy tracks like "Half-Lit" from the band's recent full-length album Negative Qualities, as well as other tried and true lo-fi punk jams from their self-titled EP.

Sleater-Kinney

Revered indie rock trio Sleater-Kinney recently returned from their eight-year hiatus with the outstanding new record No Cities to Love, and are now taking the set on an extensive tour. The band employ infectiously catchy riffs and hooks in all of their punchy, upbeat jams; it's apparent that over the years their songwriting ability has only improved. Check out their live performance when they hit Toronto this week.

03/02/2015 Toronto, ON – Sound Academy

Taylor McFerrin

Taylor McFerrin will be bringing his brand of hazy R&B-influenced-beats to the West Coast this week, making a stopover in Vancouver. Last year, McFerrin put out his excellent full-length Early Riser via Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder Records. Like other artists on the roster, McFerrin uses ambient electronic effects and rhythms to create a rich and beautiful sound. Be sure to catch his show in Vancouver this week.

The OBGMs

If you're looking for a party, it'll be at the OBGMs' hometown show in Toronto this week. The band's sound is fun and light-hearted, and their recent self-titled full-length is full of energetic noisy garage punk jams. Don't miss your chance to see them perform this week.
