Last month, we featured the newest single from Toronto, ON dance punkers Spiral Beach in our daily Click Hear column. Full of spacey synth with a surf rock feel, that track, "Domino," came from their soon-to-be-released album, The Only Real Thing, which now has a release date, tracklisting, accompanying tour and all that other good stuff that goes along with new releases.
Due out in Canada on September 22 through Sparks/EMI, the album once again finds the quartet teaming up with Hidden Cameras cellist Michael Olsen to produce, and apparently features the group going for some sort of Bollywood vibe on this one.
"We tried to make it as much like a Bollywood record as we could without actually being Indian in any way," drummer Daniel Woodhead recently told Toronto Music Scene. "Just with all the sounds coming in and everything being in your face and crazy, which is kind of like how the band are anyway."
Along with the usual CD and vinyl versions of the record, Spiral Beach have whipped up some fancy add-ons for The Only Real Thing, including a comic book created by vocalist/keyboardist Maddy Wilde, a photo album, band-made tour poster collection, handwritten lyric book and T-shirts. Those all come as part of the album's pre-sale deal and can be ordered here.
In support of the record, Spiral Beach are also hitting the road this fall, opening for PEI power pop outfit Two Hours Traffic in a cross-Canada tour.
