Slim Wray sounds a bit like the name of a veteran rock'n'roller, but it's actually the moniker of a modern Brooklyn trio. Their new EP is called Post No Bills, and ahead of its July 14 release, Exclaim! has got the premiere of the track "There Ain't No Right."
The song is a boppy, vintage-sounding slice of upbeat garage rock. The old-school rhythms have a "Lust for Life"-style swagger, and the crunchy tones and yowling vocals are delivered with lip-curling attitude.
In a statement, here's what the band had to say about the upcoming Post No Bills:
We were listening to Peter, Paul and Mary one day and fantasizing about them being run over by a bus. That really planted the seed for the sound of Post No Bills. But seriously, a big bus. But... seriously... we were inspired by that sorta unhinged, upbeat early 60s frat rock thing — songs like "Wooly Booly" and "Louie Louie" — as well as the Kinks and the Animals. So we did a our own take on it, just cranked to 11 and drug through a muddy river. The lyrics are a true story about a roadtrip I took with my girl.
