Slayer Return with 'Repentless'

Slaytanic thrash cardinals Slayer have revealed that their forthcoming 11th LP will be called Repentless. The album will hit stores September 11 through their new label home, Nuclear Blast.

The album title and street date were announced in a teaser vid for the album, which you can see below. There isn't much offered up in the way of new music, with the quick clip scored by a few ambient thuds. Visually, it uses a couple of pics snapped in the studio and a full band shot before running the album title across the screen.

It had previously been reported that Repentless was tracked in Los Angeles with producer Terry Date (Pantera, Soundgarden, White Zombie), and a press release noted that the collection comes across as "a sonic assault of brutal, ominous, lightning-fast and heavy-as-hell music." It's Slayer's first full-length effort since 2009's World Painted Blood.

While a tracklisting has yet to be unveiled, the record is expected to feature "When the Stillness Comes," which the band had released on a 7-inch this past April as part of Record Store Day.

Repentless brings back drummer Paul Bostaph, who had last recorded with the band on 2001's God Hates Us All. It's also the group's first album with Exodus guitarist Gary Holt (Exodus), who joined the band following the death of founding member Jeff Hanneman.

"I've got to give big props to Gary who played lead on several of the new songs," guitarist Kerry King had previously said in a statement. "I think he got all of his leads done in one day — he's a maniac!"

As previously reported, Slayer will be heading out on the road with King Diamond this summer as part of this year's Rockstar Mayhem Festival. The trek stops at Toronto's Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on July 15.
