Skunk Anansie

Post Orgasmic Chill

Skunk Anansie biggest problem is inconsistency. Sure, they can right a strong single (“Selling Jesus,” most notably), but their full-length albums lack focus. They’re at their best when they stick to full on rock, like “And This Is Nothing That I Thought I Had,” or the drum and bass intro to the Zeppelin-ish “Charlie Big Potato.” Vocalist Skin definitely has the range to be a diva, bitch or soulful crooner, and sounds less forced on Post Orgasmic Chill than on past releases, but there is still an intangible lack that keeps Skunk Anansie from being a diverse or eclectic act, and just makes them seem disjointed.
