Six Organs of Admittance's Ben Chasny and Skygreen Leopards' Donovan Quinn Unite as New Bums for New Album

Psych-folk busybody Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance, Comets on Fire, Rangda) apparently can't slow down these days, as the prolific six-string maestro has announced yet another project. This one's called New Bums and finds Chasny teaming up with Skygreen Leopards' Donovan Quinn. Courtesy of Drag City, the duo will drop their debut full-length Voices in a Rented Room on February 18.

According to a press release, Chasny and project partner Quinn didn't get along when they first met, but they now "make sweet and sour music together." The LP apparently brings forth acoustic instruments, as well as spacious arrangements floating between the realms of the blues and rock'n'roll.

Lyrically, the pair's harmonies are said to focus on the personal, "with all the stark confessions, tall tales, bleak humours and punchlines the people can bear."

New Bums' have shared the album's opening track "Black Bough," which you can stream below. This September also saw the release of the four-song Slim Volume 7-inch, with that record's "The Killer in Me" reappearing on the forthcoming album. You can sample that ghostly folk song and the rest of the single down below as well, courtesy of the crew's Bandcamp page.
