Silverstein

"Desert Nights" on Exclaim! TV

BY Lisa VanderwykPublished Jun 26, 2015

More than a decade has passed since Silverstein released their debut LP When Broken Is Easily Fixed, and they're still at the top of the post-hardcore scene; the release of their 2015 album I Am Alive In Everything I Touch has only strengthened their place. The band is bringing this aggressive, emotional album to the world on a tour that continues well into the fall, and they stopped to play a set for Exclaim! TV along the way.

Vocalist Shane Told and guitarists Josh Bradford and Paul Marc Rousseau came down to the Exclaim! basement archives to play a stripped-down rendition of "Desert Nights," sans bassist Billy Hamilton and drummer Paul Koehler.

Bradford initiates the set with a few quick picks of his strings, which are immediately overlaid by Told's familiar crooning. When Rousseau adds his sound, the first sentimental verse ensues, and by the time the chorus breaks, this stripped-down interpretation of "Desert Nights" will instil nostalgia in long-time Silverstein fans and earn the admiration of newcomers.
