Fernie, BC folk-popsters Shred Kelly will be heading out on a tour of Canada come the new year, but in anticipation of the forthcoming dates, Exclaim.ca has got the premiere of their brand new video for "Family Oh Family."
The upbeat, piano-pop number will appear on the band's next record Sing to the Night, which is due out on January 27. The clip itself embodies the lively, fun-spirited feel of the song, taking a goofy approach to the time-honoured tradition of the family portrait.
In the video, we see the band decked out in ridiculous get-ups, stopping at nothing to get the perfect shot. Under the direction of an overzealous, wannabe fashion photographer, the group are placed into every cheesy pose in the book. The costumes get more ridiculous as the video goes on, with the band sporting everything from matching Canadian tuxedos to a Siamese sweater to disco jumpsuits.
Here's what the band had to say about the video:
I think we spent 12 hours laughing during the making of this video. Because of the song title, our Producer (Christina Ienna) was inspired by the awkward family photos that are a bit of a guilty pleasure when mindlessly scrolling the internet. This video definitely represents the oddity that is a band family. At times awkward and at times hilarious. The scene of us in the conjoined sweater that Christina sewed together had us all getting more up close and personal than we've ever physically been, but is probably the best visual representation of what it really feels like to be part of a touring band.
It's unlikely that any of the looks will make it to the stage for the band's upcoming live shows, but you can nevertheless check out the dates for those below. Scroll past the gig listings to watch the playful take on traditional portrait photography in the clip for "Family Oh Family."
