Shout Out Out Out Out Announce 'Spanish Moss and Total Loss' Album, Share New Single

Edmonton dancefloor fiends Shout Out Out Out Out have a couple of acclaimed albums under their belt, and yet we still need to jog our memory to remember exactly how many times we have to type "Out" when writing their name. Helping refresh our memories once again, the band will release their third album Spanish Moss and Total Loss on June 19 via their own Normals Welcome Records imprint.

UPDATE: The album is now due out July 17.

According to a press release, this record finds the electro-rocking crew focusing on their growth as songwriters, while adding a lot more varied instrumentation into the mix. While the collection apparently features electronic influences that include "disco, classic house, Krautrock and cosmic synth music," there are also said to be some punk undertones, plus a wider array of tempos and styles than on past efforts.

Spanish Moss and Total Loss was recorded on analog gear at Edmonton's Audio Department studio. Check out the vocoder-laden lead single "Never the Same Way Twice" below, and scroll past the single to watch a short making-of documentary about the album.

Speaking of the record in a statement, the group's Nik Kozub said, "The album marks a bit of a departure from our previous material, or rather a natural progression. Since our humble beginnings in 2004, we have grown to be fully encompassed in the world of electronic music, and this is now our world and the way we think about things. We tried to write a record that we would all personally listen to, and a record that we would be proud to play as DJs (we do that too). This is our most ambitious production to date, expanding our previous instrumentation of two drummers and four bass players (with a mountain of analog synths), to include Rhodes piano, baritone guitar, saxophone, and well, even more synths."

As previously reported, Shout Out Out Out Out will be taking their party to SXSW this month. You can see their stops below.
