The Sheepdogs have made major breakthroughs will their last couple of albums, with 2010's Learn & Burn being certified Platinum and winning Juno Awards and 2012's The Sheepdogs topping the Canadian charts. Now, the Saskatoon retro rockers have announced their latest full-length.
The new album is called Future Nostalgia, and it will be out on October 2 through Warner Music. It was produced by the band's frontman Ewan Currie along with engineer Matt Ross-Spang, with sessions taking place at a remote country house near Stony Lake, ON.
The album consists of 18 tracks, with the final six cuts tied together as a medley. It seems that the Sheepdogs upheld their reputation for retro-styled rock, as Currie said in a statement, "We worked from morning 'til night, but we kept it loose, had a real good time, and came away with a rock'n'roll record." Evidently the loss of guitarist Leot Hanson hasn't resulted a radical change in the group's sound.
Scroll past the tracklist below to hear the single "Downtown." As expected, it's a tuneful song with a classic rock vibe and just a hint of soulful rootsiness.
