On January 7, Deathwish Inc. will issue Try Me the sophomore full-length from post-hardcore unit Self Defense Family (who, before that, had a successful run as End of a Year). Now, we get the first taste of the release with "Turn the Fan On."
The track opens with a dripping faucet before Patrick Kindlon comes in with his trademark poetic lyrics. While much of their previous material is slightly more explosive, this one focuses in on a more subtle build of lush guitar tracks, hushed back-up vocals and a dynamic rhythm section. The end result is not as in-your-face as one might expect, but no less affecting.
