Screaming Females

'Rose Mountain' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 16, 2015

Fuzzed-out New Jersey punks Screaming Females return with Rose Mountain later this month, but you can give it an early listen right here on Exclaim.ca.

The new LP marks the band's first since 2012's Ugly and hears the group switching things up on the production front. After a couple releases with Steve Albini, the noisy three-piece teamed up with producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Minus the Bear, Cursive) for the new record.

The result is a set of tunes that runs the gamut from raging rock'n'roll riffs to more loosely structured guitar lines to the melodic vocals of frontwoman Marissa Paternoster.

The band previously described the album as their "most melodic and concise music of our 10 year history," and it definitely shows. See-sawing between a blunt punk sound and tuneful indie rock, the group deliver an album that's packed with punch, but also polish.

Rose Mountain officially arrives on February 24 via Don Giovanni Records, but you can stream it in its entirety a week early in the player below.

You can pre-order the record on iTunes here.
