Over the years, Ryan Adams has occasionally been razzed by audience members yelling out requests for "Summer of '69" by Canadian schlock-rock king Bryan Adams. Evidently the alt-country singer is embracing the similarity in their names, since he just covered the elder's "Run to You."
Ryan performed the tune last night (October 1) in Santa Barbara, CA. As you can see from the fan-shot footage below, he and his band the Shining gave the 1984 hit a faithful run-through. The video isn't much to look at, but the audio is fairly good quality. For anyone who has been shouting out "Summer of '69" during shows, this is the next best thing.
In related news, Ry-Ry just announced a new Halloween 7-inch EP called Vampires.
