Run the Jewels Get Their Own Weekly Apple Music Radio Show

Although artists initially decried Apple Music's plan to not pay out royalties during its three-month trial period, the company changed its policy, and artists and labels have been getting on board with the newly launched streaming service. This includes Run the Jewels, who have just got their own weekly radio show, entitled WRTJ, for Apple Music's Beats 1 station.

The rap duo of Killer Mike and El-P were personally chosen by Zane Lowe, one of the DJs who co-leads Beats 1. The program will air every Friday at 6 p.m. PDT (that's 9 p.m. EDT), starting tonight (July 3).

While every other show on the radio station is studio-produced, WRTJ will be recorded on location as Run the Jewels tour the world.

In the past year or so, Killer Mike has developed a reputation for political commentary, particularly as it concerns U.S. civil rights issues. It's possible that he will use WRTJ as a way to share some of his views, although the initial clip to be released from the show covers far more lighthearted subject matter. Below, listen to a bit of Mike and El-P debating the merits of unicorns and dragons.

Meanwhile, Run the Jewels have begun working on their third album, and their cat-themed Meow the Jewels remix LP is still in the works.
