Rocket Juice and the Moon

Live in France

We've got to admit that we thought it was a little weird when Damon Albarn called his new project Rocketjuice and the Moon. Now, the outfit, which also features Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen, have previewed their sound with a number of live tracks recorded in Marseilles, France, on Sunday (October 30). There's also one additional tune performed in London, UK, on Saturday (October 29).

There are seven live recordings (two of which are the same song, "Poison"), which find the band jamming on a number of quirky, Afrobeat-tinged tunes that might baffle fans of Blur, Gorillaz or Red Hot Chili Peppers. Listen below.

Expect some or all of these songs to appear on the band's forthcoming album, due out sometime next year.
