Since Robin Gibb's death in 2012, the Bee Gees singer has already been remembered with a posthumous album. Next, he will have a prolific part of his musical career celebrated with the three-disc collection Saved by the Bell - The Collected Works of Robin Gibb: 1969-70. This will be out on June 2 via Warner.
All 63 tracks here were made in the 12-month period when Gibb was 19. This includes an expanded version of the 1970 solo album Robin's Reign, the lost album Sing Slowly Sisters, and a collection of oddments called Robin's Rarities.
The comp was produced by Andrew Sandoval and it's apparently been in the works for a decade. Gibb had planned to finish Sing Slowly Sisters during his lifetime, but he turned his focus to new material and died before ever completing the lost album. This is the closest approximation of the intended running order, and it was put together with help from fans who purchased cassettes and acetates in auctions over the years.
The Robin's Rarities disc includes demos, alternate takes, BBC sessions, outtakes and a couple of orchestral compositions. The liner notes were written by St. Etienne's Bob Stanley.
