Anthony H. Wilson, television personality and founder of Factory Records, has passed away today at the age of 57 after a year-long battle with cancer.

The Manchester media mogul and subject of 2002's 24 Hour Party People (where he was portrayed by Steve Coogan), is remembered as a key contributor to the rise of punk in England. Among the acts he launched careers for with Factory include Joy Division, New Order and Happy Mondays. He was also the co-founder of the notorious Hacienda club in Manchester.

Wilson underwent surgery back in January to remove his kidney, thus weakening his condition. It is reported he succumbed to a heart attack.
