Boston-based Brazilian synthesist Ricardo Donoso has been honing his sound over the last couple of years, releasing Progress Chance in 2011 and Assimilating the Shadow in 2012. Now, he's doubling down by releasing the two-part As Iron Sharpens Iron, One Verse Sharpens Another this fall.
According to a press release, this marks the end of era for Donoso, since it apparently "closes the cycle Progress Chance began with perfection, and blows the possibilities for the future wide open." It's not too much of a stylistic departure for Donoso, although he has apparently "pushed further and further into grid-like, trance-infused tracks," which are more dancefloor-oriented than before.
This so-called "treatise on duality" will be released in two separate parts, with As Iron Sharpens Iron arriving in mid-October and One Verse Sharpens Another due a few weeks after that. These will be pressed on two 45 rpm 12-inch records and released through Digitalis.
