It's been three years since Regina Spektor released 2009's Far, but now the Soviet-American songwriter is finally prepared to deliver her new collection of songs. What We Saw from the Cheap Seats will arrive on May 29 through Sire Records/Warner Bros. Until then, listeners in Canada can stream the whole thing here on Exclaim.ca.
The album finds Spektor re-teaming with producer Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Eminem, Fiona Apple), who she previously worked with on Far. In addition to containing Spektor's latest material, the album nods to the past with a new version "Ne Me Quitte Pas" -- here titled "Don't Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)" -- which also appeared on 2002's Songs.
Of working with Spektor, Elizondo said in a statement, "Regina Spektor is that rare artist that continues to surprise. Just when you think you have her figured out, she knocks you out with something completely different. It's that spirit that drives this record. Each song takes you on a journey that only Regina is capable of providing. She has truly outdone herself."
