The Provincial Archive have been on the scene for a number of years now, and the Edmonton folk rock band have signed with Black Box Music for their next album. Before the full-length arrives later in 2014, the band are releasing their Hide Like a Secret EP on June 10, and it's available to stream now on Exclaim.ca.
The appetizer of an EP begins with "Daisy Garden," a dynamically dramatic cut that will appear on the forthcoming full-length. It ends with a fairly faithful cover of Elliott Smith's "Son of Sam."
In between, the band get rustic on the pared-down acoustic number "The Pointe Work," while "Young & Bloodless" is a little more upbeat and rhythmically jittery.
