Pop Montreal Announces Pop vs. Jock Charity Basketball Game with Arcade Fire's Win and Will Butler, Justin Vernon, Nikolai Fraiture

Arcade Fire's Win and Will Butler will be making a bid for the Splash Bros. title this September, with the pair prepping themselves to hit the paint next month for the Pop vs. Jock charity basketball game at Pop Montreal, taking place in the city September 17 to 21.

News of the game was confirmed by the festival today (August 27), along with a handful of concert adds. Pop vs. Jock III gets underway September 20 at McGill University Sports Centre. On top of the Butler brothers, other guests attached to the match include Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and the Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture, while San Antonio Spurs player Matt Bonner will coach the squad. Once again, the Pop team will stand-off against a team comprising members plucked from the McGill Redman and the Concordia Stingers.

General admission tickets are $20 plus service charges or $75 for corporate donations, with all proceeds going towards DJ Sports Club, a non-profit charity organization that provides sports and education programs in for youth in Montreal's South West boroughs. You can find out more over here.

  On the music side of things, organizers for Pop Montreal have announced another batch of concerts taking place around town, with newly attached artists including Schoolboy Q, Stars, Sarah Neufeld, Esmerine, Richard Reed Perry, Crosss, Teenanger, Phedre, Jeremy Fisher, Young Liars and more.

Phil Collins will also take part in Art Pop's 10th anniversary by screening his 2007 single-channel video dunia tak akan mendengar. He will also take part in an artist talk with Galaxie 500 heroes Damon & Naomi.

As previously announced, Pop Montreal also has performances scheduled for the likes of the Unicorns, Panda Bear, Ronnie Spector, Twin Shadow, Against Me!, Schoolboy Q, the Dirty Nil, Eamon McGrath, Sun Kil Moon, among many others.
