Pick a Piper

"Dinghy in a Quiet Cove" on Exclaim! TV

Although Pick a Piper started as a group that aim to bring "organic dance music," their switch to electronic instrumentation did not stop them from using the same acoustic sounds, as well. Mainly known as the project of Caribou drummer Brad Weber, with friends Angus Fraser and Dan Roberts, their latest release, Pick a Piper: Remixes, revisits their 2013 self-titled debut album, and features artists like Teen Daze, Jeremy Greenspan (Junior Boys) and, of course, Caribou.

In the midst of Canadian Music Week, Exclaim! TV caught up with the Waterloo trio at Toronto's Kops Records, where they performed an extended version of their track "Dinghy in a Quiet Cove."

From the very beginning, the contrast between the exciting afro-beat drums and chilled out vocals instantly make you want to dance. But as the song progresses, the synth brings a psychedelic element that enhances this euphoria.

Do not miss Pick a Piper at the Painted Lady on Thursday, June 18 for NXNE.
