More Nipples

BY Roman SokalPublished Nov 17, 2016

As part of the Unheard Music series, this release falls nothing short of a major important discovery in jazz music history. More Nipples is made up of three long lost tracks from the original Brötzmann 1969 release, complete with his famed quartet and sextet configurations. This is concrete exploratory insano-jazz at its best — a predecessor to Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart. These tracks are like an array of instruments that are pushed down the stairwells of the Empire State Building — cascades of chaos and wonderful melodies of confusion. Brötzmann's tenor sax playing is in its finest form — shaking one out of a state of boredom and forcing him/her/it to listen to the universe and follow their own freak flag. While not nearly as disturbing as, say, his Machine Gun album, this is a fine replacement for things like coffee and green tea. Caffeine for the ears.
