Gordon Grdina and Kenton Loewen's avant-rock guitar-drum duo gave the tight mass of people gathered in the PTVN basement a sweaty display of abstract musicianship. Both dealing in complicated time signatures at frenetic, dizzying speeds, Grdina and Loewen were impressively synched throughout their performance, their hypnotic marriage of instrumental post-hardcore and avant-garde technique both enchanting and exciting.
Their set consisted of pieces from their Two Fish EP as well as an upcoming full-length. The audience locked into their grooves early on as if transfixed, and Peregrine Falls rewarded their attention with novelties like prepared guitar, cymbal scrapes and a theremin.
