'The Original People's Champs Workout' (video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Oct 5, 2015

Brooklyn-based seven-piece People's Champs are gearing up to release their debut LP American Dreamers later this month, but before it officially arrives, they've offered up a tantalizing taste of the new material with a high-energy teaser that's sure to whip your butt into shape.

The Original People's Champs Workout shares a sampling of the songs from the upcoming record, which was recorded partly at the Converse Rubber Tracks studio and partly in basements, bedrooms and living rooms around Brooklyn.

In addition to giving you an excuse to get up, stretch out and do a 10-minute workout, the clip serves as an introduction to the group's bustling blend of West African and South American rhythms and retro-futurist synth-pop. It riffs on neon-coloured, squeezed-into-spandex workout videos from the '80s and is a ridiculously fun and funky watch.

American Dreamers arrives on October 23 via 3rd Generation Recordings. Get an idea of what you can expect by watching the video feature in the player below.
