Starting with their eponymous song, Pennywise took the stage in front of a backdrop proclaiming 25 years as a band. Unfortunately, a poor mix made it seem otherwise. It was hard to tell what was going on during the quiet and, consequently, awful-sounding set.

When something recognizable cut through, however, it sounded spot-on, as if it was the same band that graced the Key Club for a live album in 2000. Actually, it was the same band, with singer Jim Lindberg re-joining the band a couple years back. It's slightly comical to hear a nearly-50-year-old man sing "Fuck Authority" when he spent his time away from the band exercising his own over his children.

Still, the skate punks made use of their quarter-decade worth of material, taking "Same Old Story," "Society" and "Perfect People" (here dedicated to all the "fat people" in attendance) from days gone by. It's just a shame the bands staying power wasn't matched by power in the P.A. that, by no fault of their own, made the performance unlistenable for much of its duration.
