A former staff member of Pearl Jam's management company has pled guilty to embezzling over $300,000 from the band while he was under their employ.
Last week, the King County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that Rickey Goodrich had pled guilty to six counts of theft regarding the embezzlement, Seattle's KOMO News reports. Goodrich had worked for Curtis, Inc. between 2007 and 2010, acting as chief financial officer, and was accused of using company money to pay for personal debts and using Pearl Jam's credit cards to fund vacations, as well as pay for alcohol and iTunes purchases. He was fired from his position in 2010.
While early reports had suggested Goodrich stole $380,000, the Seattle Police Department had also said the tally for all the expenses accrued by Goodrich was in the neighbourhood of half a million dollars.
The Prosecutor's Office also reported that Goodrich has paid back $125,000 and plans to pay back another $181,000 in restitution. If he does so by his sentencing trial this coming February, the state will suggest a six-month stint in prison. If he doesn't make the payments in time, it will ask for 14 months in prison, plus the repayment of the rest of the funds.
