Paul McCartney

"Take It Away" (single edit)

Paul McCartney's got another pair of re-releases coming our way this fall, and he's promoting the expanded version of 1982's Tug of War by streaming a new, remastered single edit of that record's "Take It Away."

While extras-loaded, multi-disc sets of both Tug of War and 1983's Pipes of Peace will be issued October 2, Rolling Stone notes that this recently unearthed alternate edition actually won't appear on either. That said, the somewhat rocksteady pop track appears on the set three other times in altered form.

The cut still pairs those roots reggae-styled organs and hard-grooved drums together before Sir Macca takes the tune away from those sounds into an after-hours arrangement of smooth "oohs," jazzed-up sax passages and more.

You'll hear the message from McCartney and the rest of the band down below.
