Parlovr

'Kook Soul' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished May 7, 2012

Montreal indie rockers Parlovr recently announced that they would be releasing the follow-up to 2010's Hell / Heaven / Big / Love EP this spring, and now you can stream the new album Kook Soul right here at Exclaim.ca.

On their sophomore LP, the trio looked to the music of the 1950s and the Flaming Lips' Soft Bulletin for inspiration, creating what vocalist Alex Cooper describes as a "retro futuristic motif." Thematically, most of the songs are about changing relationships and the resulting "heartbreak, infatuation, teenage love, old age regret, faded feelings."

We previously heard the dreamy lead single "You Only Want It 'Cause You're Lonely," while the band experiment a bit more on tracks like the organ-heavy "Married on a Sunday" and the soul-tinged "Amaze-Me-Jane."

Catch Parlovr on their upcoming Canadian tour dates and listen to their brand new album below.

Kook Soul is out May 15 via Dine Alone Records.
