Paper Bag Records Signs Moonface, Tim Hecker and the Luyas

One of Canada's finest independent record labels just got a whole lot better. Toronto's Paper Bag Records is already home to a host of stellar homegrown acts, and now the company's roster has grown by three, thanks to signing Canadian deals with Moonface (aka Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade/Sunset Rubdown), Tim Hecker and the Luyas.

Excitingly, all three of these acts are currently working on new material. The first of them to release a record will most likely be the Luyas, who plan to drop a new album later this year. They revealed on Facebook yesterday (June 5) that they were in the mixing stage. This will be their follow-up to 2011's Too Beautiful To Work.

As for Moonface and Tim Hecker, both plan to release albums in early 2013, according to Paper Bag. Hecker's last album was 2011's Ravedeath, 1972, while Moonface has released two albums within the past year: last summer's Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped and this spring's With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery.

In the meantime, both Moonface and Hecker have tours planned, although the latter's Sled Island appearance is the only Canadian show between them. See Moonface's schedule here and Hecker's here.
