Animal Collective's Noah Lennox released his latest solo LP as Panda Bear with Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper earlier this year. Our reviewer described single "Boys Latin" as one of the album's more "downtempo and dark" numbers, but a new Andy Stott remix of the track takes that description to a whole new level.
Blasts of static noise, droning industrial sounds and drawn out synthesized snippets of clattering instrumentation make Stott's rendition of the tune practically unrecognizable. The vocals eventually kick in at the two-minute mark, giving the listener a point of reference to the original — though they sound less like Lennox, and more like a possessed church choir.
It's nevertheless an interesting and totally transformed interpretation of the track, and you can hear it in the player below.
