An onstage incident in Australia had NOFX bassist/vocalist Fat Mike (a.k.a. Mike Burkett) shoving and kicking an overeager stage invader after being grabbed by the fan mid-song.
Early on during the Wednesday night (November 5) performance in Sydney, as part of the band's current Australian tour, Burkett expressed that he had been facing neck pain during the trip. Later, during a run-through of Punk in Drublic opener "Linoleum," a fan took to the stage to try and wrap his arm around the NOFX frontman. As you'll see in the video down below, Fat Mike reacted quickly to the interruption with a backhanded slap that knocked the audience member over and followed that up with a kick to the chops. The invader was then taken offstage by security as Burkett regained his composure.
After the show, the fan identified himself as "Alex" on Twitter and reported "thanks for the KO mike, didn't hurt too much. Soz for creepin up on you like, punk shows are a bit different down here." He also uploaded a picture of the split lip he received during the altercation.
The post led to Burkett apologizing for his confrontational reaction:
