New Torngat Record Due in March

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Feb 25, 2009

Ambient power trio Torngat have announced they're hitting us up with another batch of ambitious instrumentals. The record is called La Petite Nicole and is due out March 10 via their pals at Alien8, apparently offering grittier forays into dub-heavy post-rock, Kraut and the occasional "miniature freak-out."

This follow-up to the Montrealers' 2007 debut, You Could Be, also comes packing quite the little concept and supposedly follows some loose cinematic tale involving a young girl lost in her own pencil-drawn wonderland. If you're eager to hear how that plays out, you can currently get a stream of La Petite Nicole over at Alien8's website.

In support of the new record, which is being pressed on both vinyl and CD, Torngat also have some live dates lined up. Here they are, along with the tracklisting:

La Petite Nicole:

1. "Interlude"
2. "La Petite Nicole"
3. "L'Ecole Penitencier"
4. "Afternoon Moon Pie"
5. "6:23 PM"
6. "Turtle Eyes & Fierce Rabbit"
7. "Going Whats What"
