New Order are all set to break a nine-year silence with a brand new studio album next month with the release of Music Complete. Exclaim! recently spoke to drummer Stephen Morris about the band's forthcoming ninth album, saying they "approached writing in a different way and concentrated more on beats and using synths and bass lines first, and then guitars… [unlike] the last couple of records [where it was] done it the other way around." Fans can hear what Morris means on September 25, when Music Complete is released via Mute. But it appears that the band have even more planned for that big day.
According to a few different sources online, New Order will be reissuing three more albums on September 25. Following up Rhino's massive five-album reissue campaign in 2008, the label will now complete the band's discography by issuing vinyl reissues of 1993's Republic, 2001's Get Ready, and 2005's Waiting for the Sirens' Call, all of which have been long out-of-print on vinyl and fetch steep prices on sites like Discogs and eBay.
Although no official announcement has been made by the band or Rhino, the three albums are currently up for pre-order at Music Direct. Let's just hope this batch isn't a "mess" like the last one was.
Judging by this news, September 25 should officially be christened "New Order Day."
