Ever since he took home the Mercury Music Prize back in 2005 for his second album, I Am a Bird Now, Antony Hegarty has kept busy with projects not related to his own music, joining the tribute to Leonard Cohen in the I'm Your Man documentary, playing the role of fashion designer and becoming a disco diva, contributing vocals to Hercules and Love Affair magnificent album, as well as Björk, Cocorosie, Marc Almond and a cover of Dylan's "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" for Todd Haynes' I'm Not There.

Well, finally a release date has surfaced regarding a third album with his band the Johnsons. According to Secretly Canadian, The Crying Light is set to hit shops on September 9.

Other details are currently scarce, however, Hegarty described the album's theme to Harp saying: "It's about landscape and the future. I guess I'm thinking about those things a lot - about the natural landscape of the world and the landscape inside each person. On my last record, everything was sort of sad and redemptive. And this one, it's more extreme in both directions. Some of the songs are much more joyful, and some of the songs are much less redemptive. And then some of the songs are more thoughtful - more philosophical. I think this record is just about sitting with things."
